New Haven's Nutcracker Returns

The New Haven Nutcracker Ballet is the highlight of the festive calendar! Lisa Sanborn's thrilling full-length production gives both students and guest artists a chance to shine. Bringing the whole community of parents and kids together to pull off a fantastical Christmas-time show, this annual favorite is sure to warm the cockles and fill audiences with much Yuletide cheer. 

Tchaikovsky's timeless score and Sanborn's updated choreography tell the high-spirited tale of Clara, a young girl whose family is holding their annual Christmas celebrations. Given a Nutcracker by her Uncle Drosselmeyer, Clara is completely fascinated by the gift, becoming even more so when later on, it comes to life! There's more magic afoot of course, and the pair do battle against the fearsome Mouse King, journey through the land of snow, and arrive in the Kingdom Of Sweets where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, Mother Ginger, and the Russian Trepak.
