Jackson Browne

Why see Jackson Browne?

On tour

For some, Jackson Browne is a definitive voice of the sun-soaked, mellow Southern California vibe that emanated from Laurel Canyon and spread far beyond in the mid-60s and 70s.

When his debut album came out in 1972, the world got to hear his exceptional talents. His moving, literate songs such as haunting 'These Days', and the mind-blowing ' Running on Empty' and 'Doctor My eyes' have become part of the pop culture map, inspiring the generation to come, along with peers Crosby Stills and Nash, Carole King and James Taylor.

He began his career at 16, playing legendary folk clubs, like the Troubador, before taking a trip to Greenwich Village, New York City where his raw talent was noticed and he became, at 17, a staff writer for Electra Records, where he wrote for artists such as Tim Buckley, Nico and The Velvet Underground. He was called "new face to look for" by Rolling Stone magazine, and soon after before released the sublime 'Jackson Browne' with Geffen Records and gaining national, and worldwide acclaim.

This year, you can catch Browne in New York as he brings his band to the Beacon Theatre for four nights only! With a changing setlist, this is a not to be missed opportunity for Browne aficionados.

May 15 at Blue Hills Pavilion

I had never seen Jackson Browne, before, but it was worth the wait. At age 69, his voice is still strong and he was engaging and personable with the audience. He played 25 songs! While he played a ton of hit songs (Doctor My Eyes, In the Shape of a Heart, The Pretender), he also mixed in less well known, but great, songs like: For A Dancer, Before the Deluge, Your Bright Baby Blues. He mixed between guitar and the piano and mixed up the pace, with upbeat songs like: Red Neck Friend and Running on Empty, but slowed it down and showed his soul with songs like: These Days and Love Needs A Heart. Finally, there were songs off his new album (The Long Way Around), but he also covered Warren Zevon's Lawyers, Guns & Money. it was really terrific. If your a Jackson Browne fan - you have to go see him ... Read more

Great Performance

7/14/2022 show iat the waterfront pavillion. Perfect summer evening. Jackson did NOT disappoint. His voice was strong and true , nicely backed by two gospel singers. The setlist was very well arranged, and had the audience fully into the show. Encores included Take it Easy, Load Out, and Stay. Jackson shared a few anecdotes, and was very appreciative of the audience. I feel lucky to have seen the show. ... Read more

Never Disappointed

First saw Jackson at Red Rocks in the 70’s. I have seen him in concert about 8 times or so since then. I have always looked forward to listening to him on a regular basis. I have never left one of his concerts disappointed. That said, I feel like I have grown up with him, learned and shared in the experiences of the times. I have friends who really have no similar feelings as these. I think that if he speaks to you through his lyrics, you will enjoy his live concerts as well. Have I wished the venue would have been better or wished he played a few songs that I would have loved to hear that night, sure! That’s not on him. I would love to thank him personally for his contributions to music and the positive influence he has been to me for many years. ... Read more
