I had never seen Sister of Mercy live so I was expecting them to sound just like the studio or as similar as possible. I went to their concert in Brooklyn, NY on June 2nd, and just like everyone here, I was disappointed at the lead vocals. The guitarist’s back up vocals don’t even match the female back up from the studio which I missed a lot. It just didn’t sound like them. I could barely recognize most of the songs, I could barely hear Andrew sing at times. I don’t really care that he doesn’t address the audience at all. The only thing he said was, “good evening, please and thank you”, which was sarcastically funny. The venue was beautiful and the King Theater was pretty much packed towards the end, but the energy was not there. I agree with another critic that they sounded like a cover band. It was like listening to a hard rock band doing a cover of SoM. I don’t recommend and will not go to their show again if they ever come back to NY. Sad, very sad.

I can put this simply and succinctly: while the vibe and energy were top notch, I didn’t pay over $100 to hear Andrew Eldtrich’s band mates sing almost all the songs! The SoM are who they are b/c of Eldtrich and his baritone voice not the supporting cast.

The title says it all. I'd never been to the Fillmore before and what an amazing venue for a show of this size. The lighting was great . The crowd was great; I felt like I was back in college with all the black eyeliner, torn fishnets spiked hair and tattoos) and amazing sound. Except for Andrew Eldritch's vocals. They were nowhere to be found. I mentioned to a couple fellow concert-goers that it was like we were seeing a tribute band. Music and lights were on-point but those distinctive vocals just weren't there. Repeated pleas to the sound booth to turn up his mic went unaddressed - she even signaled he lost his voice. An auspicious start to the first NA tour in 15 years... Hopefully things improve later in the tour.

We haven’t t seen SOM since 1991 and were so excited to see them! We were very disappointed. We go to about ten concerts a year so maybe our bar is too high but the mixing person didn’t seem to know what they were doing. We could barely hear the lead singer and heard to much from the one male backup singer who had a screechy voice. Sometimes the sound was so bad, we couldn’t recognize the song even though we knew the words to it! They need to stick to the female backup vocals. We left early, which is rare for us. Good people watching though.

The same problem with the May 29 show at The Pageant in St. Louis Missouri. Andrew could not be heard. The St Louis , MO show an ‘abomination’ of SOM’s legacy. Shame Shame Shame. Don’t waste your money— EVEN if tickets were FREE it would disappoint.

Andrew Eldritch was inaudible for most of the show. Very disappointing. Seemed to be lip syncing at times.
