Prayer For The French Republic at Huntington Avenue Theatre

Why see Prayer For The French Republic?

coming this fall

Joshua Harmon's "thought-provoking, heartbreaking and wickedly funny" (The New York Times) returns to Boston this fall, with direction from Huntington's Artistic Director Loretta Greco. Following one French Jewish family over five generations, Prayer For The French Revolution is a vital portrait of how hatred can echo through the centuries, told with Harmon's biting wit and observation.

The author of Bad Jews and Significant Others, Harmon's new work is a necessary meditation on the ancient prejudice that led to the Holocaust. As a Parisian couple wait for news of their loved ones in 1944, the effect is still writ large some 70 years later in the lives of their great-grandchildren. At once a sweeping historical drama and dark comedy, the power of Harmon's tale and live theatre are not to be missed.
