Amazing multi-genre performance.
An amazing performance that crossed so many genres and centuries from Roots & Country, to Zydeco, Rock, R&B, and Folk. Giddens and her band each mastered a variety of instruments from modern electric to traditional acoustic. And Giddens performed her role as resident historian and musicologist giving each song context - her mini classes on the banjo, on slavery and its aftermath, and on the Innocence Project were great examples of a successful artist using their position for good. Highlights include her cover of Sister Rosetta's Up Above My Head, the transcendent We Could Fly, and her newest work with Yet to Be, Wrong Kind of Right and You Louisiana Man.
