Great Artist in a Great Setting
As soon as I learned Joan was playing at the Ryman, I had to get tickets! I am so glad we went to see her! The sound was great! She performed wonderfully, really engaged the crowd. Great setlist which Included (not necessarily in order): Don't Think Twice, It's Alright; Show Me(???); Honest Lullaby; Whistle Down The Wind; Silver Blade; It's All Over Now Baby Blue; Deportee; a John Prine song (he was in the audience ); A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall; The President Sang Amazing Grace; Diamonds and Rust; Me and Bobbie McGee; House of the Rising Sun; Darlin' Corey; Gracias A La Vida; Forever Young; The Night They Drove Dixie Down; Swing Low Sweet Chariot; The Boxer among others...Anyhow if you get a chance to go see Joan on this tour go for it!
Joan Baez in concert at the Kimmel
There will never be anyone like Joan Baez. This was a fantastic concert - It was political in the songs ( many of them Dylan pieces) she chose and we all know what her political views are. It was sweet being among so many people knowing there was not a single "Trumper" among them -- or they never would have been there. Listening to "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" in today's political climate had more meaning for me than at any other time I have heard her sing it. It was one of the best Baez concerts I have ever seen and I have seen all the local concerts she has done. Watching her on stage with her son was so touching. Back up musician and singer were perfection. I was in the front row for a concert I loved and with a singer I have adored for years. When the 4 of them "took a knee" at the end, I screamed for the first time at a concert! What a singer; what a person; what a social conscience! Perfection.
Joan Baes Sept 14
Outstanding! Voice is still amazing - warm, and CAN hit the nigh notes. Socially conscious as ever. Singalong to "Imagine", changing the pronouns. Along with amazing band, at concert-end, they took a knee, and bowed their head. Protest is OK folks - it is the foundation of this great country.
Joan Baez at the Shubert
Nostalgic, wonderful and intimate concert. Highlights were a few Bob Dylan songs, Me and Bobby McGee and of course Diamonds and Rust.
