Why See Boston Symphony Orchestra - Mozart and Schumann?
mixed program with yo-yo ma
Continuing Tanglewood's star-studded 2017 season, renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra for this mixed bill of Mozart and Schumann. Having performed to sold-out houses all over the world, the Grammy-winning musician is undoubtedly one of classical music's most in-demand stars and this special appearance is likely to be a memorable experience for fans.
The evening includes recitals of Schumann's Cello Concerto, a piece he composed in just two weeks that he never got to see performed. Romantic and enigmatic, it is followed by Symphony No.2. Mozart's 1775 masterpiece Symphony 25, written when he was just 17, opens the concert.
Performance date: 5 August 2017
