Why See Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?
Rudolph returns to Boston this Christmas!
Based on the beloved 1964 animated special Rudolph was first tuned into a live action musical last year by Jeff Frank and Chicago's First Stage in 2013 and looks set to become as much a festive tradition as the TV original.
This magical musical stage adaptation revisits this charming tale of respect, acceptance and friendship despite differences. With a colorful cast of characters that includes the reindeers, Santa and Mrs Clause, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice, Yukon Cornelius (just to name a few!), everybody has a part to play in helping out our shy hero Rudolph in finally accepting that his red nose is in fact an asset, and not something to be ashamed with. Cute without being saccharine, and educational without preaching, this is perfect for your little elves this holiday season.
Who is rudolph?
Possibly the most recognisable Christmas character after Santa, Rudolph is a synonym for the acceptance of differences. However, unlike Santa, Rudolph has only been around since 1939 when he appeared on a booklet written by Robert L. May and published by Montgomery Ward. Since then he has appeared in various media, and even has a well-known carol in his honor! This musical adaptation premiered in 2013 to massive critical praise and now forms part of the mainstay of the American holiday touring show canon.
