Why See Pixies?
Head carrier Tour
Pixies are back, more energized than ever and will be hitting hits the House of Blues in Boston, MA, Closed May 20, 2017. Led by Black Francis (Frank Blank on his solo ventures), Pixies can lay claim to being one of the most important American bands of the past 30 years. A gloriously messy assault on the senses, Black's scattershot and often scatological lyrics were underpinned by Joey Santiago's surf rock guitar and Kim Deal's eternal bass lines to masterful effect. Paving the way for the grunge scene which was to follow, their crowning glory came with 1989's Doolittle, which included the classics Here Comes Your Man, Debaser and Gouge Away.
The band's relationships are known for being infamously tempestuous, leading to a permanent split in 1993. While Kim Deal has chosen to continue pursuing her career with The Breeders, the other three members are now firmly back together and making music, with bassist Paz Lenchantin joining them for their tours.
The year 2014 marked the release of their first full length studio album since 1991's Trompe Le Monde. Entitled Indie Cindy, it was a typically gonzo mesh of textures and tempos, from the hazy Greens and Blues, to the surreal and cacophonous Bagboy and the crunching Blue Eyed Hexe, which is the closest they've come to sounding like AC/DC (in a good way). Earlier this year they followed it up with Head Carrier.
